CONNESTEE FIRE RESCUE
HISTORY

Connesstee Fire Rescue Volunteer Fire Department

was organized in 1976 by 26 caring volunteers with a mini pumper and a tanker.

THEN, they responded to about 20 local area calls annually.

TODAY, CFR employs 4 full time and 10 part time Firefighter/EMT’s and 55 Volunteers. The State of  North Carolina requires 36 hours of continuous education for all fire and rescue volunteers annually.  Amazingly, most CFR members invest 100 hours or more to train for specialized Teams like Swift and Still Water rescue, Drone Response, Scuba Search and Recovery and Hazardous Materials.

Connestee Fire Rescue also maintains FIREWISE USA, a wild fire prevention program made available                         for  individuals and communities.

Our mountain communities require reliable equipment to navigate tough terrains ranging from wilderness trails and river rescue missions, to multi-story condo’s, populated neighborhoods and roadside emergencies. Thus, CFR’s extensive fleet includes Fire Engines, Ladder Trucks, Water Craft, Heavy Duty Rescue Trucks, and Tankers plus All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) equipped with firefighting and rescue gear used to transport Firefighters, supplies, Emergency Medical Staff and injured personnel.
